GENERAL QUESTIONS

What type of work does Agilis Solutions do?
Agilis Solutions specializes in software development and maintenance of commercial software products and custom applications for its clients. We take full lifecycle responsibility for clients' projects, from Project Management and communications to engineering and QA. We significantly reduce our clients' risks by predictably producing reliable, high-quality software on-time and on-budget.

Describe the Agilis Solutions outsourcing model.
We call our model the "Blended Model", because we use a mixture of local and off shore individuals. Our local individuals include architects, business analysts, and project managers. Project Managers are responsible for all aspects of the project from start to completion. The software engineers are provided from our dedicated Off-Shore Development Center (OSDC) in Hanoi, Vietnam. This "Blended Model" optimizes expertise, communications and cost.

What distinguishes you from other outsourcing companies?
Several things make us different from other companies. Our ability to estimate schedules is excellent. In fact, 95% of the time, we hit our schedules with less than a 9% error. Quality is assured through mature agile development methods employed by our CMMI level 5 certified OSDC. Our Blended Model ensures that experienced, local individuals interact closely with the client, taking responsibility from start to finish. The Blended Model makes us cost efficient for a quality product delivered on time and on budget.

What is your communication infrastructure?
We believe that one of the most important factors in the success of a project is clear communication, and lots of it.

Describe your business continuity program/procedure?
In Portland and Hanoi, automated full backups of all systems are performed once a week with incremental backups performed nightly. Copies of backups are stored in an off-site storage area. Backups can be restored as required. During individual vacations, all work is transitioned to a backup individual in order to continue progress on projects. Hours of operation: Portland: 8 am to 5 pm, M-F with emergency on-call network administrators after hours and on weekends Hanoi: 8 am to 5 pm, M-Sat with emergency on-call network administrators after hours and on Sunday. With the time difference, combined operating hours are: 8 am to 3 am (next day) M-F plus 6 pm Sun eve to 3 am Monday morning. Time difference is PST + 15 hours PST (+ 14 hours during daylight savings time).

What measurement system do you utilize?
We utilize several metrics in the following categories:

  • Budget - budget deviation throughout project

  • Schedule - schedule deviation, timeliness, response time, performance to agreements

  • Size - product size, size deviation

  • Effort - usage, deviation, distribution across phases

  • Requirements - completeness, stability

  • Productivity -size/effort, review and test effectiveness

  • Quality - defect rate, quality cost, defect removal efficiency.

What certifications do you have?
We received our ISO9001-2000 (Software) registration in 2001. We have operated at a CMM level 5 since spring of 2003, and received certification as level 5 in March 2004 through an independent auditor (KPMG). We review our CMM Compliance every 6 months.

What requirements do you have of your clients? Resources? Processes?
For all projects, we require close collaboration with the domain experts throughout development for each project, access to personnel and systems relevant to the project, timely decisions, proper attention at all levels as necessary, and technical support (particularly during the ramp-up period). For maintenance projects, we require access to defect tracking system, product builds, test cases/scripts.

What type of legal barriers might we expect to run into? None. We have addressed all barriers, tax status and legal protection so that you will be set to do business with us. Our partnership with our OSDC is governed by US laws and is subject to the terms and conditions of the US-Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement. All personnel sign non-disclosure agreements to protect the confidentiality of ours and our client's information. All personnel are subject to background checks prior to being hired.

What is your security policy/procedure/process?
It is our policy to ensure that the security of our environment meets client and legal requirements and that we pro-actively guard against breaches of security. In both Portland and Hanoi, our systems and networks are protected via standard firewall technology (HW and SW) using DMZ's for specific named services. Access security is carefully planned and maintained at all times allowing access only as necessary to servers and software. In Hanoi, our OSDC network is separated from the main LAN by a central switch thereby blocking access to people outside our OSDC. We maintain a shared server between Portland and Hanoi that limits access by project to each specific project team. Our contract with our OSDC is governed by US laws and is subject to the terms and conditions of the US-Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement. All personnel sign non-disclosure agreements to protect the confidentiality of ours and our client's information. All personnel are subject to background checks prior to being hired.
